Owasso's Newest Local Shops Want You to Stay Awhile

October 22, 2026

"It's just a community hub for model builders and war gamers," the owner of Top Shelf Hobbies, identified only as Andrew, told Choose Owasso in August. He described a hobby shop. Several other owners who opened in Owasso since midsummer have said much the same thing about their own places. A bookstore, a vintage shop, a pool hall and a coffee bar on Main Street have all been described by their owners as places to spend time. Selling is part of each business, but most of what they built is room to stay.

That idea shows up most clearly in the Redbud District, where several storefronts have changed hands or opened since May.

Two Main Street storefronts changed hands this year

The Redbud District's newest businesses didn't all start from scratch. Two of them took over spaces that already had shops in them.

At 4 S. Main St., Grant Stacy and Kaylyn Powell took over the storefront that used to hold The Gameday Spirit Shop in May and turned it into Mix On Main, which sells vintage clothing, art, decor and artisan goods. Here is how Powell described the shop to the Owasso Reporter: "It's a spot for people to come hang out and chill and hang out, maybe find something they've never seen, something different, and take it home, meet people that they never would've crossed paths with." The couple also plans to host events for artists, hobbyists and collectors. They'll post those on the shop's Facebook page.

Nearby in the district, the shop that used to be Top Shelf Models has a new owner and a new name, Top Shelf Hobbies. It still carries vehicle, aircraft and military models. It has added more sci-fi and fantasy kits plus tabletop games and accessories, especially Warhammer and Gundam. The biggest change is inside. According to Choose Owasso, the refurbished store has "a large play space for regular build/tournament nights and socials."

Ballet Cat, a consignment shop, also opened in the Redbud District this summer, according to a Choose Owasso spotlight from July 30.

The floor plans are full of places to sit and play

What these shops have in common is how they use their space. Most of them set aside part of the room for something other than shelves.

TBR Books held its grand opening at 125 S. Main St. on Friday, Sept. 25. "TBR" stands for "To Be Read." Owners Jay and Sara McElroy are married, and the Owasso Reporter says they wanted to bring a new kind of bookstore to their hometown for readers of all ages. Sara told the paper, "There's a little bit of a space for everyone to kind of hang out and be comfy." Jay said, "We want to provide an escape from life for a second and be able to just enjoy and read a book." The shelves cover fantasy, sci-fi, young adult, historical fiction, romance and mystery, thriller and horror.

Owasso Family Billiards at 314 E. 5th Ave. got its certificate of occupancy from the city on Sept. 17. The Owasso Reporter reported that it celebrated its grand opening on Thursday, Oct. 1. Its website lists Brunswick tables, shuffleboard, air hockey, foosball, big-screen TVs, food and drinks, and says the place "was built for every generation." Owners Joe and Jackie Schade told Choose Owasso before opening, "More than anything, we want Owasso Family Billiards to become a place where memories are made and where the community genuinely feels at home."

Here is how the new spots compare by how each one sets up its room.

Business Address What the space is set up for Opened or changed
Mix On Main 4 S. Main St. Browsing vintage and artisan goods, with planned events for artists and collectors Took over storefront in May 2026
Top Shelf Hobbies Redbud District Large play space for build nights, tournaments and socials New ownership, spotlighted Aug. 13, 2026
TBR Books 125 S. Main St. Room to "hang out and be comfy" Grand opening Sept. 25, 2026
Owasso Family Billiards 314 E. 5th Ave. Brunswick pool tables, shuffleboard, air hockey, foosball, food Grand opening Oct. 1, 2026
Skyline Lounge 102 S. Main St. Coffee by day, lounge three nights a week Grand opening scheduled Oct. 23, 2026

One Main Street address with two sets of hours

The last row in that table pushes the idea furthest. Skyline Lounge at 102 S. Main St. describes itself as a coffee and cocktail bar. Its website shows a grand opening date of Friday, Oct. 23, 2026, which is the day after this post goes up.

The same room runs on two schedules. Coffee is served Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. The lounge is open Thursday through Saturday from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. On a Friday, that means the doors are open for 13 of the 20 hours between 6 a.m. and 2 a.m. The business says it wants to offer "a luxurious and serene environment where they can unwind and escape from their daily stressors." Its site also has a dress code page, so check it before a late visit.

City records show the space at 102 S. Main St., Suite F, received its certificate of occupancy on July 23.

Away from Main Street, the same idea takes other forms

The trend isn't limited to downtown. Two openings along Owasso's commercial corridors put their space toward the same goal in different ways.

OK Roots Farm To Market moved from its storefront at 116th Street and Garnett to 12336 E. 86th St. N. in Cornerstone Shopping Center. Owners Kimberly and Roger Brown grew the shop from about 900 square feet to 1,500, which is roughly two-thirds more room. They told Choose Owasso the extra space is for their 85 to 90 Oklahoma vendors and for a better shopping experience. OK Roots opened in November 2023. It carries candles, soaps, herbal products, vegetables, canned and baked goods, dairy and a wide range of meat, including beef, bison, lamb and goat. "I want them to know where their food came from," Kimberly told the site. "It means a lot to be able to serve my community." She also said the move brought in new customers along with the regulars: "all of our familiar customers, they still come, but then there's all these people that didn't know we were here."

At Smith Farm Marketplace, Brock and Jacklyn Reuss opened the first Froyo Beast at the end of July at 9045 N. 121st E. Ave., Suite 720. It serves frozen yogurt with toppings, coffee and protein options. The ram logo is a nod to the Owasso Rams. "We love the community; we love the Rams," Brock told Choose Owasso. Jacklyn added, "we're just excited to be a part of the community, meet more people, and really give back."

Of the six businesses here with named owners, five are run by married couples. When they described what they built, nearly every owner talked about meeting people, being comfortable and making memories.

I love seeing local families put their names on Owasso storefronts, because their choices help shape what a part of town feels like day to day.
